Miata’s Sandown Cup – Will She Break The Record Again? The Latest Odds
She'S the Black Caviar of greyhound racing and long odds-on to win her 16th race in succession and snatch the $100,000 first prize in tomorrow night's Group 1 RSN Sandown Cup (715m). She is Miata and she is TAB Sportsbet's $1.22 favourite to stretch her unbeaten record in races beyond 530m to 15 from box two.
Miata found yet another way to amaze when, in the last of the four Sandown Cup qualifiers, she smashed the track record from the same box draw last week (two) with a staggering time of 41.54sec.
Irma Bale (box six) is rated the main danger, if there are any, after posting clearly the second fastest heat time of 41.84sec.
TAB Sportsbet is also open on two “Miata specials” for tomorrow night. The first is whether her winning margin will be four lengths or less, or more than four lengths.
“We went up $1.90 each of two options and the punters quickly snapped-up the over four lengths, so it;'s $1.80 over and $2 four lengths or less,” TAB Sportsbet's Adam Hamilton said.
The second special is on whether Miata will break the track record she set last week.
“We think it's big ask to go any faster than she did last week, but it is Miata we're talking about,” Hamilton said. “We're $1.40 for her NOT breaking the record and $3 that she WILL break it.
“It is worth noting she already owns six track records, including 715m at her home track Cannington, 647m at Mandurah and 720m at Wentworth Park.”
