Prankster Highlights Start Of Melbourne Cup Preludes

Robert Britton's enigmatic sprinter led all of the way to sensationally win his Solo Prelude in 29.68 at Park tonight.

The son of triple-crown winner , Prankster ($3.50) began well from box seven and was never threatened, defeating a quality field by seven lengths.

The win was the tenth of his 20 start career, and improved his Sandown Park record to five wins from just eight starts at the Lightwood Road venue.

($2.40) was equally impressive in his Prelude, overcoming a chequered run to win by 5.25 lengths in 29.70.

race winners ($2.70) and ($3.20) were victorious in 29.89 and 29.93 respectively, and the underrated ($3.90) took full advantage of a rails run to win in 29.89.

The winner of each Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude earns a berth in the heats of Australia's richest greyhound race, the $250,000 Solo Melbourne Cup, the final of which will be run on Thursday 26 November.

The next Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude series will be run on Thursday 17 September.
