Selleck Inquiry For Conduct Toward A GRV Steward At Sale
In the event in question Selleck's greyhound, Silk And Sand finished second last of the eight runners, beaten 31.25 lengths as an $18 chance.
Subsequent veterinary inspection revealed a right wrist injury, although Silk And Sand's poor performance was far more attributable to the wayward Zibibbo, who checked Silk And Sand on several occassions and finished 1.25 lengths behind Silk And Sand, with the two of them 17.5 lengths from the sixth place finsher.
Both Zibibbo and Silk And Sand were vetted on two seperate occassion and in both cases a right wrist injury was discovered on the subsequent veterinary inspection.
Both greyhounds were given a seven day stand down for the injury, but Zibibbo was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment, by reason of injury, and directed to perform a satisfactory trial prior to any future nomination.
No doubt Selleck's conduct related entirely to his perception of events and his perception of the GRV Stewards judgement and action.
At the inquiry held today, GRV Stewards heard evidence from Mr. B. Selleck, GRV Stewards Mr. C. Scott and Mr. R. Paul.
After hearing the evidence, Stewards reminded Mr. B. Selleck of his responsibilities as a registered Trainer and took no further action in relation to the matter.
