Xylia Allen Lands Listed Stayer’s Race At Sandown
Xylia Allen (5) finally cracked a staying win at Sandown Park on Thursday night, winning the Listed Cup Night Stayers race. Previously, Xylia Allen had been tried twice over the Sandown 715 metre trip without notching up a win.
The race looked all but over just after box rise as Xylia Allen easily got to the lead and was able to have it all her own way out front. Allen Deed (7), who was having just his second start over the staying distance, got to second and was gallant in his four and three quarter length defeat. Born Ali (3) finished nine lengths away in third, but was a little unlucky in the run. She checked Arejay Smokey (4) just after box-rise and then collided with kennelmate Cheetah Zorro (1) rounding the turn.
Xylia Allen recorded 41.75, which was faster than the victory of Sweet It Is in the Sandown Cup Final. The victory was the 29th for the Turanza Bale – Tayah Bale (Droopys Vieri – Francesca Bale) bitch and she has now earned over half a million dollars in prizemoney for owner Janice Wheeler and trainer Jenny Hunt.
