Starting from box eight as the $1.90 favourite following his 26.72 heat victory on Tuesday, the Anthony Azzopardi-trained greyhound was fair to begin from box eight but was beaten for speed by the classy Shared Equity (box one) which pushed through along the fence to take up the early lead.
In the run to turn the son of Nitro Burst and Flying Liddy was trapped out wide as Aston Bolero (box seven) burst through the middle to run into second, with those three breaking clear of the opposition.
Around the turn and Aston Bolero raced up on the outside of Shared Equity which raced wide through the bend, giving Zambora Brockie a beautiful rails run along the fence.
Turning for home and once out in front it was a case of times and margins, with Zambora Brockie sprinting clear to score by 4.94 lengths in a scintillating 26.72.
Group 3 Bill Collins Speed Star winner Blazin’ Bomber (box five) made up a stack of ground in the home straight to finish second, with Zipping Chubbz (box six) also working home nicely to fill the trifecta back in third spot.
Zambora Brockie has now won 20 of his 33 career starts with a further six minor placings, with Sunday’s win adding to his previous victories in the Group 1 Vic Peters Classic and the Group 2 Warrnambool Cup.
The black dog, which does not turn three until September, has also accumulated a hefty $237,313 in career earnings to date.
