WA Young Stars Classic – Which Litter Will It Be?

Five out of the six winners from Saturday nights' heats were taken out by members of only two litters.

With the Wheeler crew dominating racing around the country at present, it was only a matter of time before the West was the next state on the agenda, as sent across a small team to contest the series.

It took until the first heat for the interstate raiders to make an impact, as Dyna Iceman lead practically all the way in 30.66. Beginning from box seven, Dyna Iceman had a winning lead off the back straight, and survived a late charge from Dollstan Cruise to hold on by half a length.

It became a winning double for Brendan twenty minutes later, when littermate Dyna Hackett came from near last to overcome box six and win by nearly three lengths. Jumping poorly and weaving through traffic, the bold black and white chaser was too good for them over the 530 metres, stopping the clock at 30.69.

While that made it two from two for the October 2009 Where's Pedro-Dyna Panama litter, the attention quickly turned for the remaining heats.

The – Winsome Bluebird litter has embedded itself as a true revelation, after winning the next three heats, with all three runners under the care of Paul Stuart.

Easily the star attraction from the litter is , who put on another dazzling show with a slashing 30.02 victory. Starting from box eight, the small fawn flyer began moderate and third throughout the race. But at the business end is where she really shines, and the winning margin became ten lengths in a blink of an eye. No doubt she will start heavy favourite for the final.

Bautista strutted its stuff when putting in a game effort to win to in a time of 30.71. It was a race that changed complexion when tearaway leader Special Kath got a stitch in the late stages, however Bautista was unfazed and too strong, booking its place in the final.

Starlight Delly has always shown to be above average in quality and that was franked when she via a lead all the way win in 30.55. Starting much better than in recent efforts, Starlight Delly was untroubled throughout and will be hard to beat with a repeat performance.
The final heat was a much more open affair and went the way of Star Keeping for Terry Erenshaw.

Another to begin fast and run out the journey, Star Keeping was first up in Western Australia and arrived with very solid NSW form. With nearly a 50% winning rate, the ability of this daughter should not be underestimated and despite a poor draw, may run a cheeky race next week.

Yunderup Miss and Dollstan Cruise enter the final as the quickest of the beaten brigade, while Belarus and Blow a Kiss have duty of being reserves.

The box draw for the final has been released, and race favourite Miata will jump from box one while Dyna Iceman will no doubt be an obstacle in box two.
