Uno Kendra Prevails In A Chaotic Scweppes WA All Stars Final

A massive fall where three runners fell on the first corner saw the David Hobby trained Uno Kendra ($4.30) win the 2 Solo at Cannington last Saturday night.

After clocking 5.59 early she raced away with an unassailable lead down the back after Ricky's A Robber, Methane and Smiley Dylan all fell on the first corner. The race was as good as over at that point.

The beautifully bred black bitch by from Sensation Lee won by a hollow 17 lengths giving her owner Scott Pursehouse a great thrill it was her first group race success.

Best of Times ($4.20) finished second ahead of Bramley ($5.00) in 30.51 after sections of 13.29 and 18.77.

Uno Kendra has a sound record at Cannington and came into the final with a mixed stake win over the 530 in 30.55 and her All Stars heat victory leading all the way in 30.56. She has now won nine times at headquarters with her best time 30.40.

She has displayed consistence form of late using her early pace to full advantage and in late August early September she won four races on end at three of those wins were in the best of the night.

It prompted trainer David Hobby to make the long journey to Park where she performing well finishing third behind Magpie Lomar in a prelude on the 30 of September. On that occasion she overcame box five to be beaten only six lengths in 29.93.

The astute Hobby was making sure his charge was eligible for a start in the Melbourne Cup heats on November 11, little did he know she would win the All Stars which presenting her with a an automatic start in the heats.

No doubt Uno Kendra's next mission will be the Melbourne Cup and given her early pace and her look at the track in September she is certain to be very competitive when she travels south in a couple of weeks time.

Uno Kendra is a Black bitch whelped March 2008 by Primo Uno from Sensation Lee (Brett Lee x Grigorieva) she is raced by Scott Pursehouse. Uno Kendra is trained by David Hobby from Nambeelup and she has raced 35 times for 18 wins and 13 placings with the $40,000 first prize for the Schweppes All Stars Sprint it took her current stake earnings to $80,725.

After the placings the field finished in the following order 4th Kranky Karl ($12.70), 5th Chuck Monelli ($13.00), 6th Ricky's A Robber ($8.40) Methane ($17.20) and Smiley Dylan ($13.50) failed to finish.

The All Stars Sprint has always been a major event on the Cannington Calendar every year since first run in 1977. below are the previous winners.
