Womann Flies The Vic Flag In The Golden Easter Egg Heats

– one of the sport's most decorated female trainers – is still chasing a dream of winning the Golden Easter Egg.

She prepared two Easter Egg finalists in 2005 – litter brothers Trewly Special (3rd) and Go Forever (5th).

And last year, she guided (6th) – a younger full-brother of that pair – into the final of the NSW GBOTA's flagship sprint.

Womann, of Lara, has three runners for the semi-final of this year's $150,000-to-the-winner series at Wentworth Park, in Sydney, on Saturday night.

Heat winner (30.17sec), and heat runners-up Spiral Glory and Trew Millions were three of seven Victorians who progressed to the semi-finals after last weekend's preliminaries.

Trew Millions, who is chasing successive berths in an Easter Egg final, is a 10-time race finalist including a three-time G1 runner-up – 2009 Perth Cup, 2008 and 2008 Winter Carnival Cup.

“He's a real professional… He's get up and go; all business,” Womann said.

But Womann also has a high opinion of 2009 G3 DDC Launching Pad winner Shiver Inside and Spiral Glory, who was a finalist in the 2009 G2 Cup and 2008 G2 .

“Shiver Inside has stepped up to the mark… He's quickly learned what it's all about. “And Spiral Glory is the one in the background… He chases his heart out, and could prove the smoky.”

Victorians won two of the 10 heats, with superstar El Galo (29.83sec) setting the standard. Others to qualify for the semi-finals were Birthday Boy, Mantra Lad and .

The Golden Easter Egg final will be conducted on Easter Saturday, April 11.
