The Maitland track in NSW’s Hunter Valley plays host to 10 top-class greyhound races this Friday night, with the first set to begin at 7:22pm local time. There are five fantastic finals on the program, including the Group 2 Maitland Gold Cup worth $40,000 to the winner. Australian Racing Greyhound has done the form and picked out the best bets for this fantastic meeting.

Sweet Street has only had the seven career runs for three wins and four placings. She was coming off a Gosford hat-trick when running into the very smart Fortune Hunter last start and was gallant in defeat. There is no Fortune Hunter in this race, and Sweet Street should lead easily from the perfect draw in box one and prove tough to run down.

Race 2: Slick Badger (1)
Slick Badger was a touch unlucky on debut, as he was severely checked when going to the lead; however, he used the rails to his advantage in the heats here and raced through to score impressively. He draws perfectly in box one, and while not blessed with extraordinary early pace, he will push along the rails and should get the perfect run around the big Maitland turn.

Race 8: Fusion Mint (2)
In a tough Group 2 Maitland Gold Cup Final, Fusion Mint looks to be way over the odds with online bookmakers. She might not be from one of the big Sydney kennels, but this little girl can fly early, and that may be the key to winning this race. She will need to clear Chief Lightning early, and if she does that, Fusion Mint may get some cover from him to establish a race-winning lead.
