Wentworth Park Saturday preview & tips – December 23, 2023
The last Saturday night meeting at Wentworth Park before Christmas will have 11 top-quality races, with the first set to run at 6:21pm. A classy free-for-all headlines the program, as well as the finals of the dogs' and bitches' series. Australian Racing Greyhound will try to fill your stocking with a few winners.
Race 7: Zipping Caleb (3)
Zipping Caleb won a Group 3 here last week and has been heralded as a top-class chaser since winning the Zoom Top Maiden at Goulburn earlier this year. He has now won six of his 13 starts at Wentworth Park, while he is two from four out of box three. This boy's box manners are terrible, but he has such a big motor that he can give the good dogs a start and a beating. He meets a strong field here and will be giving them a start again, but the way he is racing at the moment, he will round them up and put paid to them once more.

Race 6: Zipping Delvene (1)
Zipping Delvene ran second in her heat of this 520m series behind Cindy Keeping last week and chased gallantly the whole way. That was her first run back from a freshen up after falling, and she should strip fitter and have more confidence in the final. She has a win and a placing from the inside draw, as well as two wins and five placings at Wenty. She maps to get a lovely run with the two heat winners drawing alongside each other out in boxes seven and eight. If she can hold them all off and lead into the first turn, Zipping Delvene will be extremely hard to run down.

Race 1: Milly's Song (2)
Milly's Song should lead this race for fun. She has exceptional early splits both here and at Richmond, although she is not the strongest dog in the race. That being said, this is not an overly hard fifth-grade race, and if she can run around the 30-second mark out in front and away from trouble, that might just be good enough to give us an early Christmas present. She can offset most draws with her pace and should be at great value with Flying Vance and Bianca's Boy likely to stifle the market with the top greyhound bookmakers.
