Ethan’s Thunder roars to victory in Bundaberg Derby heats

Ethan's Thunder struck again on Monday afternoon, taking out his heat of the Derby with a dominant display.

The Michael Heydon-trained chaser lined up as equal race favourite in the 531m contest, paying +160 with top greyhound betting sites.

At box rise, the other favourite, Booming Boo Boo, got out to lead from the inside draw.

With a perfect passage through the field, Ethan's Thunder put the race to bed soon after hitting the lead.

He ended up putting a big margin on the chasing pack, beating Kasey's Money (+1400) and Just Like Mick (+550) by close to 11 lengths in a time of 30.15.

Last time out on August 28, Ethan's Thunder put in a dominant performance to beat home Tarawi Magic and Canya Bellatrix by five-and-three-quarter lengths.

His start prior to that on August 7, he saluted by seven-and-a-quarter lengths at the shorter 460m trip at Bundaberg.

The x Kelsos Tenderlee dog has seven wins and 17 placings from 46 starts and has banked close to $20,000 in prize money.

Jumping from the inside draw, he got out nicely with Kick Son (+450) taking the lead around the first bend.

, the -500 favourite, came from his wide draw with a lot of work to do to get into the race.

As Kick Son turned the final bend, Rebel Blaster served up a huge run to move into second and then came over the top of the leader to win by the narrowest of margins.

He beat Kick Son and Smart And Classy by a mere 0.13 of a length, clocking 30.47 in the process.

Rebel Blaster had previously raced at the Bundaberg track on seven occasions, including four attempts over the 531m trip, but this was his first win at the track.

His last time in the winner's circle was on June 10 at the 520m journey, beating home Teddy James by a length and a half.
