FANTA Bale (David Bale x Ucme Typhoon Aug '14) proved once again why she is the undisputed Queen of greyhound racing with a brilliant win in Saturday's Sydney Cup (720m) at Wentworth Park.

Trained in Victoria by , the champion race bitch landed on the bunny from box two and never gave her rivals a chance, holding on to defeat the fast-finishing Midnight Treat (Shakey Jakey x Midnight News Jan '15) by one and one quarter lengths in 42.41.

Kennel representative , who co-trains with Britton at his Lara property, said the team couldn't be happier with Fanta Bale.

“She is flying at present, she is just such a good bitch,” Pursell told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“She knows how to win – she doesn't clock flying time or win by a huge margin – but she is competitive and she gets the job done.

“She is one in a million.”

The win took Fanta Bale's career stats to 49 starts for 33 wins, five seconds and five thirds, with her prize money earnings now sitting at $964,835 for team Britton and her owner, .

Her next assignment will be a crack at the $75,000 invitation-only Stayers at on October 28 – with the final field set to be announced on Tuesday night.

“That's what she'll be set for now – we'll try and get her [prize money] over $1 million.

“It's hard to get a dog which can achieve the feat, we are very lucky to have her getting so close.

“There is a lot of pressure which comes with having a bitch like her – everyone is looking at her so she has to perform 100 per cent all the time.

“But I think she'll get there, for sure.”

Britton missed Saturday night's victory as he is currently in attending greyhound sales where he has purchased a couple of dogs.

He will no doubt be trying to snare another Ucme Typhoon (Dodgem By Design x Uss Mysterious Aug '09) – the dam of Fanta Bale – which he purchased from the US and raced in Australia before leasing as a brood bitch to Paul Wheeler.

“Rob has been saying for a long time that American bloodlines are going to have a big influence on our racing,” Pursell said.

“That shows with Fanta Bale and we are hopeful that her and her sisters can continue the line for years to come.

“Rob is a big believer in American dogs – he thinks they are a bit stronger. He has a farm over there and he breeds and we send a lot of bitches over there to breed and it seems to be paying off now.”
