Follow Vassallo At Ballarat Wednesday Night

The Pearcedale kennel of Wayne Vasssallo has been of late with six winners from eight starters last week, and Wednesday could well be another night for punters to follow his chasers.

Vassallo produced at treble at last week's meeting, as well as a double at on Saturday night.

Vassallo is back at Ballarat on Wednesday night with Sirocco Hero and who are engaged in heats of the Tony's on High Catering Grade 5.

Sirocco Hero has drawn ideally in Box 1 in the first of three heats, with the winners, second placed and fastest third placed chasers to go through to next week's 550 metre final.

Sirocco Hero is coming back from city class races, but will tonight be having his first start at the track and distance.

This should not trouble the son of as he has been racing consistently and has a good record in middle distance races.

“He should go well from his box draw, but will need some luck on the first turn.” Vassallo said.

“We are using the heats to begin stepping him up in distance as we believe he has the ability to make a good stayer in the future.”

Hardest to beat will be local chaser from Box 2, and Sirroco Style from Box 3.

Big Ange has drawn awkwardly in his heat in Box 6, but has overcome difficult in the past.

Big Ange strung together three wins and a second placing from four starts in November, which underlines his undoubted ability.

In his last few starts the chaser has received checks in running, which have affected his chances in those outings.

“He has got plenty of ability but needs it all his own way in his races to produce his best.”

“He has pace from the boxes and should go well if he gets a good run in transit.”

Hardest to beat will be from Box 7, and from Box 1.
