Iconic Jet wins Group 3 Young Stars Classic in record style
Iconic Jet delivered a masterclass performance in the 2024 Group 3 Young Stars Classic Final at Mandurah Greyhound Club on November 22, securing a resounding victory by 8.75 lengths.
Trained by Shayne Williams and owned by Carli Taylor, the near-two-year-old $2.10 favourite at BlondeBet bolted to the lead early and never looked back, finishing in an impressive 27.08 seconds to claim the $30,000 winner’s share of the $43,057 prize pool.
Starting from Box 3, Iconic Jet’s explosive speed was on full display as he clocked a swift 5.63 seconds to the first sectional, holding off early pressure from Fancy That Fred.
By the back straight, Iconic Jet had surged ahead, leaving the rest of the field scrambling to keep pace.

Arbolino, trained by Paul Stuart, battled valiantly to secure second place, finishing in 27.65 seconds, while Ian Bunny’s Another James claimed third, crossing the line in 27.77 seconds after a strong final stretch.
Fancy That Fred, another of Bunny’s highly anticipated runners, struggled to maintain his early momentum and finished in last.
Premium Star and Impress Wilder, both strong contenders, also fell short of expectations against the commanding performance from Iconic Jet.
The result underscored the depth of competition in the field, with all runners delivering commendable efforts despite the margin of victory.
With his 12th win from 18 starts and career earnings now totalling $98,156, Iconic Jet’s next target is likely the Listed Anniversary Cup, set for December 7 at Mandurah due to ongoing renovations at Cannington.
Trainer Shayne Williams has currently not hinted on such events; however, with not many feature races left in Western Australia and the Anniversary Cup being the perfect distance for Iconic Jet, us at AustralianRacingGreyhound will be hoping he secures a start.
Currently, none of the top Australian bookmakers have odds out for the Listed Anniversary Cup. Expect them out a couple days prior to the heats.
