Zipping Vanessa races to the top of 2023 Sydney Cup betting

has qualified quickest for the 2023 Group 2 .

Zipping Vanessa blew the field away with a dominant win in her heat of the 2023 Group 2 Sydney Cup at Wentworth Park on night.

Trained by John Finn, lined up in the 720m heat as the short -200 race favourite with greyhound betting sites and rewarded backers with a classy performance.

Jumping from box one, she came out in the lead turning the first corner, and dictated terms from there for the entire journey.

Turning into the home straight, Zipping Vanessa extended the margin to beat home My Catalina (+3300) by a whopping 12 lengths in the best of heats time of 41.54.

Queensland-trained rising stayer, Valpolicella, finished back (+270) in third place.

The winning time improved on her previous best time of 41.61, clocked on August 10 when she saluted in the NSW State Final, beating home the talented Palawa King.

Zipping Vanessa owns the stellar form over the Wentworeth Park 720m of five wins from seven starts, and continues to look more impressive with each start over the staying distance.

The daughter of Feral Franky and has 12 wins and six placings from 23 career starts and had amassed $79,550 in prizemoney.

The other Group 2 heat was won by Ritza Piper, who led the entire way proving her staying ability to win in great fashion.

The Joseph Scerri-trained chaser lined up in the 720m heat as a +340 prospect, against +200 race favourite, .

Jumping from box two, Ritza Piper got out to lead off the back of the rails run heading into the first corner with Locked On Scotch (+1100) in second place.

Dictating terms from the front, Ritza Piper swung into the home straight clear and went on to win easily beating home (+260) by 7.5 lengths in 41.87.

Ritza Piper has shown how much she relishes the Wentworth Park track with nine wins, including the $40,000-to-the-winner Summer Distance Plate Final on January 21, along with six minor placings from 17 starts in the city track.

After debuting in July last year, she has gone on to win 14 times with 11 minor placings from 38 career starts and passed $146,030 in prize money earned.

The $100,000-to-the-winner Sydney Cup Final will be held on October 13 alongside the 2023 Million Dollar Chase Grand Final.

Last year's edition of the Sydney Cup was won by , who had won the Group 1 National Championship final at Wentworth Park earlier in the year before breaking the in 41.21.
