Staggering Performance in 2022 Group 1 Bold Trease Final
New South Wales chaser Stagger Out Lee produced a stunning come-from-behind performance in the 2022 Group 1 Bold Trease Final at Sandown Park last night over the 715m, giving her young trainer Jack Strutt his first taste of group one success.
Exiting from box one, the daughter of My Bro Fabio and Parrydise Star found herself in last position past the winning post the first time, before making her move around the outside of the field.
She began to gain moment just prior to the 595m boxes and when early leader Untapped began to tire, the 28kg chaser swooped down the outside to claim victory by 1.75 lengths at the finish in a time of 41.71.
Owned by his father Paul, young Jack was stunned post-race saying he never imagined he would be in this position after she broke the track record at Wagga in the marathon event over the 760m just two-weeks ago.
Currently studying a law degree, Strutt will certainly revel in the 10-hour trip back to his training facility at Springvale NSW, with his new piece of silverware in hand.
Fellow NSW chaser Cawbourne Magic also produced a sensational effort to finish second for the Lord family, giving the state a quinella in the event.
Korda who appeared to be challenging in the latter stages, finished third for Angela Langton.
It was Stagger Out Lee's 10th career victory, with the $105,000 winner's purse, taking her total's earnings to $172,765
