Townsville greyhound betting preview & best bets | Tuesday, 4/4

is set to host 12 races on Tuesday night with the 1st race kicking off at 6:55PM local time. We've got 3 cracking heats of a 4th/5th grade bitches series over 380m. The first 2 across the line and the 2 fastest third's head through to next week's much anticipated final. There's plenty of promising types on the card including: Senor Yogi, and WA newcomers and Swimming Home.

Townsville Best Bet: Senor Yogi (Race 9)

Senor Yogi gets his chance at redemption tonight after tasting his 1st defeat at start no.8 last week. for win number 8, Senor Yogi went around a $1.20 favourite from the stripes and was unusually slow to begin. He showed his customary muster to find the lead however, he was gone turning for home which left favourite punters with their tails stuck between their legs. I've always had a theory in regard to, coming off a last start peak dogs seem to race flat at their next start and this could be another case in point if he returns to his dashing best. Yogi's boxed to perfection out wide where he can be left alone to let rip and spear across fields. I think he will do so again tonight and break their hearts mid race scoring a dashing victory.

Next Best: Elarbee Yeo (Race 1)

Happy to side with the newcomer to NQ in the 1st. Elarbee Yeo debuted over the 400m just under a month ago at and was able to run 2nd. Jumping from box 1, he showed terrific box manners and found the front off the mat before being passed by Moraine Sofia who won impressively and has since gone onto feature in the placings in 2 of her next 3 runs. He looked to use the track on debut so box 8 appears no disadvantage, if anything a blessing. Mister Rambutan drawn directly inside him has shown little to no speed early and wants the fence which should ensure a clean getaway for Elarbee Yeo. He's found a moderate maiden with the exposed runners failing to impress to date. His biggest threat appears to be the 1st starter, Denim who's gone up a default favourite. Given he begins as well as did on debut, I expect him to find the top and be hard to run down.

Best Value: Run Over Freddy (Race 6)

The speed map over the 498m @ Townsville has always been the most crucial element when doing the form as many fast dogs have been undone by the tough bend start. The best mapped dog in this race appears to be Run Over Freddy and at the price he appears the value runner. His form looks hot and cold on paper and I can put that down to not being the most brilliant beginner, drawing squeeze boxes on a bend start. He's had bad interference in 4 of his last 5 runs. The only time he got clear air, he won by 3.5L in moderate time (29.26s). To his credit, he holds a 29.08s PB. The dog's drawn outside him: Mali's Whitey, & Chasing Tomorrow all appear to hold their line if anything, run off slightly which should ensure we get through the 1st turn unscathed. Add in the fact, Easy Does It and Chasing Tomorrow are both 1st up at the 498m. I believe he is the forgotten runner and can figure in the finish.

Best Roughie: Henryk Bale (Race 3)

Moderate 5th grade with a few dogs in the market appearing vulnerable. With this, I've hunted for value and I'm siding with Henryk Bale to run a drum from the pink box. The son of doesn't win out of turn however, has proven he can handle box 8 where 2 of his 7 career wins have come from 11 starts. Last fortnight he contested in the staying race (643m) and ran a game 3rd to Townsville's best stayer in . Last week he seemed to race flat, dropping back dramatically in distance to the 380m when 6th beaten 7L to Can't Catch Her. Now that he's gotten over that staying race, he might be able to race fresher and closer to the speed. The two Chaffey trained runners that head betting, Billy Buttons & Where's The Ship aren't faultless beginners and the latter appears to want to get off the track which could cause a bit of a pickle. Alert drawn to our inside will search for the rails and we appear to get an unimpeded run throughout. I'm expecting him to come with a charge late and be ultra-competitive at the big quote of $12.00/2.50.
