2016 Group 1 Silver Chief Classic heats – full tips and best odds

ELEVEN heats of the Group 1 Silver Chief Classic (525 metres) will be run at The Meadows on Saturday night featuring some of the sport’s best up-and-coming male sprinters.

The last edition of the race was taken out by the Rob Britton-trained Above All and the leading mentor will head into 2015/2016 series with three chances – Allen Oregan (heat eight, box seven), Allen Membo (heat ten, box eight) and Bruce Tycoon (heat eleven, box three).

The current favourite to take out the $100,000 event on January 2 is Cutting Edge ($10 with Bet365) which was won eight of its 10 starts for Geoff Collins. The son of Barcia Bale and Chasin The Dream has drawn well in box one in race eight and is currently $1.50 to take out his heat of the three week series.

Also right in the market for the overall win is the emerging Snakebite Bale for Andrea Dailly. A half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Dyna Double One, the son of David Bale and Crystin Bale comes into the series following two wins over the track and trip, running 29.81 on both occasions.

Snakebite Bale is $13 with Bet365 to take out the final and has drawn box two in race seven.

Four runners share the $17 quote in the all-in market – Jesaulenko, American Monster, It’s Classified and Unlwaful Entry, the latter of which took out the Group 1 Hobart Thousand (461 metres) on Thursday night.

The first heat is race one on the card at The Meadows this Saturday and is set to jump at 7:12pm AEDT.
