2014 SA Waterloo Cup Won By Big Merc
Congratulations to Philip Kruger (owner) and Shaun Laffin (trainer) on the win of Big Merc, who convincingly won the 2014 GOTBA/GRSA Waterloo Cup over the gallant Cool Frank. Whilst the numbers were disappointing, the quality of the field was not – with early favourite Stew’s Mistake going down to Big Merc in the 3rd round, patrons knew they were going to get a good final course and they were not disappointed.
Ben Rawlings had an absolutely mind-boggling day leading in four winners, with King Chaos bringing him success in the Derby when defeating Ray Fewing’s Raja’s Green Man. Again, the numbers were down but the quality was there with some pretty handy performances handed in by the younger brigade. Ben’s other winners on the day were Man of Manners in the GOTBA Maiden Stake, Lochinvar Impala in the GOTBA Maiden Stake and Kalden Legenda in the Waterloo Cup Consolation.
Ken Trowbridge also enjoyed his day’s racing when Footluce Diva defeated her litter sister Footluce Dancer in the 2014 GOTBA/GRSA Oaks – again, disappointing numbers but a field full of class.
Our next and final meeting for 2014 is scheduled for Sunday 7 September – all grades catered for with nominations closing with GRSA at 9am on Wednesday 3 September. This is your last opportunity for the 2014 season, so come along a give your greyhound an experience to remember! See you there!
