Yachi Bale, the 2022 Melbourne Cup champion, has officially retired from greyhound racing following an illustrious career that showcased his strength, versatility, and reliability on the track.

Trainer Mark Delbridge made the difficult decision after the 20-time race winner showed signs of discomfort during a trial.

Delbridge reflected on Yachi Bale’s retirement with emotion, emphasising the dog’s invaluable contributions to his family and racing legacy.

Yachi Bale’s career peaked with his memorable victory at the 2022 Group 1 Melbourne Cup, where he stormed home late to defeat Fernando Mick and Plaintiff in a thrilling finish.

Remarkably, this race was Yachi Bale’s first attempt at group-level competition, and his dramatic win cemented his reputation as a standout competitor.

Over his career, Yachi Bale earned over $844,000 in prize money, with notable performances across various tracks and distances, including personal bests of 29.21 seconds over 515 meters at Sandown Park and 29.50 seconds over 525 meters at The Meadows.
