2024 Eastar Match Race series greyhounds ready to fly on Thursday
The box draw for the 2024 Eastar Match Race series at Angle Park took place at GRSA on Monday, March 25.
This sets the stage for a lineup of head-to-head match races at Angle Park on Thursday, March 28.
The one-on-one action kicks off with the opening match race at 7:19 PM (SA time), followed by races at 7:30 PM, 7:40 PM, and 7:48 PM local time.
All match races will see greyhounds exit from boxes one or three over the Angle Park 530 metre distance.
The nominated contenders for the 2024 Eastar Match Race series include 2024 Listed SA Sprint Championship finalist Doonan, 2024 Group 3 Murray Bridge Cup champion Adhana Rico, 2023 Group 1 National Futurity placegetter Victa Marli, nine-time Angle Park 530m winner Riot Rooster, 2023 Group 3 Brian Johnstone finalist My Khaleesi, three-time 530m Angle Park winner Woodside Johnny and four-time Angle Park 530m winner Fantastic Ada.
The matchups for the four races are as follows:
2024 Easter Match Race Series – Angle Park 530m
- Match Race 1 ($3,000, $500): Doona vs Fantastic Ada
- Match Race 2 ($3,500, $500): Whiskey Soda vs Woodside Johnny
- Match Race 3 ($4,000, $500): Victa Marli vs Riot Rooster
- Match Race 4 ($4,500, $500): Khaleesi vs Adhana Rico
The top performer overall from the Eastar Match Race Series will receive $6,000 prizemoney, with $2,500 awarded to the second place finisher, and $1,500 to the third place finisher.
Officially the Eastar Match Race Series is Race 3 on the 12-race card at Angle Park on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
