Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's Greyhound Racing Tips for Monday 24th August 2009 with Tips tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales).

If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet get yourself with an account at Sportsbet, most Australians are still eligible for a $50 free bet, no deposit required at one of Ausralia's leading corporate bookies.

Not a bad night of greyhound racing tonight with quite a few Victorian Paws Of Thunder hopefuls tripping up to Wentworth Park for a look and a little track experience, and earlier on new 535m track record holder Sand Burner will try to make it 2 track records in 3 days with a start over the Richmond 618m in a scartching depleted race, which should see him unchallenged throughout at 5:51pm in Race 5 from box 6.

With racing from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales), lets just review some of our betting advice for the way those tracks play.

Cranbourne races over the 311m, 520m and 699m distances. Punters should stay away from the 311m races as a short run to the first corner cause unpredictable results and leaders usually win. Box 8 is a huge advantage in these races.

The 520m distance runs more consistently and the track show a more normal distribution of the four “bookend” boxes performing best. The 699m races are run infrequently and usually contain one standout selection.

Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90's. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.

Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on lure system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.

Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for and there are very few genuine stayers.

Richmond Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 6 – Sand Burner

Devastating track record breaking run here on Friday night over 535m which saw him eclipse the previous mark by nearly a tenth, running 30.17 to earse Western Land from the record books. Run a last sectional record doing that and has already run 32.74 at Maitland, 42.54 and 35.79 here at Richmond over this distance, so distance does not present a problem. After starting with a full field plus reserves this race as wilted away to just the four runners, none of which can get within the length of the straight with Sand Burner, so its just Sand Burner vs the clock. Tears has held the Richmond 618m track record at 35.22 since Sepetmber 2004.

Richmond Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 7 – Bogie Brave

Another Jason Mackay trained runner, Bogie Brave is exceptionally well bred being Bond~Bogie Leigh and has proven that damline by winng a maiden heat here in 31.30 and the winning the final in 31.00 dead. Doesn't look like a superstar yet but is no slouch either. As the veteran of just 2 starts has to handle a wide draw for the first time but is well placed and looks to have more scope than the others.

Richmond Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Tax Rort

Extremely costly conveyance Tax Rort has been sent arounnd with the money on and claimed a certainty beaten on both occassions. Has drawn box 1 tonight and has absolutely no excuses. Is a , so don't be surprised that if the right run doesn't present he'll take us to the cleaners again. Just have to be on the best greyhound in the race and if he fails for a third time tonight, we'll have to get off him until over longer journeys.

Richmond Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 4 – Root Canal

It took a greyhound the quality of Gripen Bale to beat Root Canal here last time out. That was Root Canal's first defeat in 5 starts here at Richmond and was from the same box as tonight. Has a stack of early pace and is locally trained by Peter Rodgers. There is no Gripen Bale in this and can offest the awkward draw by leading throughout.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 3 – Next Top Model

The Jason Thompson trained Next Top Model can be very dissapointing but put it all together last start with a 30.61 heat win here last week which was the quickest of the heats. Should have the race made for her by the Mrs Hyde in box 2 who should lead easily. Next Top Model should have little trouble slotting in for the trail and proving too strong in the run home.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 6 – Devine Ruler

When your one a good thing! has done the job for us at both his last two starts. Has an abundance of early pace and although has been to Wenty 6 times for just the one 30.22 win, he is capable of leading this and doing enough to get home. Should go around at good odds and owes us nothing, so prepared to stick with him.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Azam

As we predicted last week got all the breaks from box 1 and duly got the cash at a very handy $3.20 plus. Ran 30.30 in the process and scored his first Wnetworth Park win on debut and his second in a row. Plenty of speed outside in this and Azams style of hunting up the inside will pay dividends tonight. Should be plenty of trouble and Azam should skip through to to take over down back. Getting nice odds about the best form greyhound in the race who luvs an inside draw.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Ned's Pedro

You'll be forgiven for not jumping on this one from box 1. Ned's Pedro has been given a comfortable career so far by McDonald and although he's won 10 of 20, he really has been cuddled along. Stepping up in grade now, he's been thereabouts and has struggled at past 2 starts here, but gets a favourable draw tonight. Is capable of quick times when things go his way and has a good box record. Is a little overrated and don't want to be on under $1.80, don't take silly odds.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 1 – Freaky Lee

Freaky Lee is on fire at present, has won 3 of his last 4 starts, however all were at Richmond. Ran second at Dapto last start and while it wasn't a bad run didn't set the world on fire. Gets an ideal draw here and should show something off the 1 box. Looks a more than handy greyhound in the making but must make the step to metro racing, again don;t take silly odds.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Falcon Flash

Impossible to tip against Falcon Flash who has now won 5 of 7 starts with 2 placings and his last 4 in a row. Bolted in last start here in the heat of this race in a career best 30.18 by 8.25 lengths and should have no problems repeating the effort from box 3.
