Greyhound Racing Tips For Saturday 16th May 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's free Greyhound Racing Tips for Saturday 16th May 2009 with Tips tonight from The Meadows (Victoria), (New South Wales) and Cannington (West Australia).

Tonight's racing is highlighted by the semi finals of the Group 1 Maturity Classic at The Meadows for the youngsters and after some very handy performances last week, quite a few will be looking to consolidate their legitimate claims for this years title.

Last night's tips unearthed some enormous value, including Brislane at $4.60 best price and $3.77 best price. We also backed the very unlucky Monique's Doll who was carted right of the course and distanced in her race, and looked 100/1 just to catch the main body of the field. But she flew late to get up for 3rd from last, and was only beaten 3.5 lengths from 1st. The time was an ordinary 31.20, but this bitches run was enormous and she is eligible for much easier races and will be suited by longer distances. She is a new addition to the Australian Racing Greyhound Kennel.

But with racing from the Meadows (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales) and Cannington (West Australia), let's recap out betting advice for tonight's tracks.

The Meadows races over the 525m, 600m and less frequently the 725m distances and the track definitely favours railers; it is almost impossible to make ground once you get wide on the track at The Meadows. The inside 3 boxes are favoured over the 525m, and the inside 4 boxes over the 600m. The outside boxes are a decided disadvantage over the both the shorter distances.

Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90's. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.

Cannington is one of the better two tracks which does tend to give greyhounds off the speed a chance to run on. Both the 530m, and 642m distances favour the inside boxes and the 1 box has a slight advantage over the 715m distance.

Meadows Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 2 – Rhyme Thyme

Rhyme Thyme is in a purple patch of form having won five of his last six starts. Got caught late last start over the 650m at Warrnambool, so obviously is not going to be a stayer, but only has to contend with the 525m here. Has been showing good dash from the boxes and despite having only won 1 from 10 here, does look to be racing with greater confidence now.

Group 1 Maturity Classic – Meadows Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 6 – Lord Ducal

The speedy but weak Miss Martini will definitely lead this first semi final of the Maturity Classic but will be a sitting duck late for atrong runners. Not sure about Aston Trivett's committment off the bunny, so going with Lord Ducal, who has early pace and did run 29.96 winning at before winning his heat here lst week in 30.05. Has enough early pace to go up outside and sit 2nd or 3rd early before proving too strong.

Group 1 Maturity Classic – Meadows Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 5 – Special Kid

New South Wales greyhound Special Kid has to contend with the squeeze boc here, but has put 2 good wins here back to back from boxes 8 aand 6, leading all the way on both occassion. Ran a best of night 29.88, before running 30.01 last week in the heats. Has winning form around quality greyhounds as Miss Elly Mint, Bells Pace, Repeated etc and looks a class above this lot.

Group 1 Maturity Classic – Meadows Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 2 – Nova Surf

It is impossible to go past another New South Wales greyhound here in . The Maitland Gold Cup finalist and Group 1 Futurity finalist displayed plenty of ability at her first full track run from the boxes here last week in the heats running 29.97 and leading all the way from box 6. The move to box 2 is an added for her and it's difficult to see anything leading her or running her down.

Group 1 Maturity Classic – Meadows Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 6 – Gardam Prince

Gardam Prince is not unbeatable in this race but does look the only likely tip. You won't want to take too shorter a price here, but there wasn't a whole lot wrong with his .5 length 2nd in the heat last week after running fast early splits and then getting caught by Dyna Forte in 30.04. Probably leads again and as that was his first run at further than 457m, should strip a little stronger this week.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – Take The Kitty

Drawn down where she wants to be Take The Kitty will give you all heart failure until he gets a clear run down the back straight, but once that happens it will be daylight 2nd. Won from box 1 3 starts back before running 2nd from box 7 and then winning last start from 7 again. Will jump last and always needs luck in running, but is desperate for the rail, so starting down there is one hurdle out of the way.
