Rockhampton greyhounds preview

is set to host a nine race program on Wednesday night from 6:52PM local time. The meeting is headlined by the “Wendy Mulry Travel fourth/fifth grade final,” set to take place over the 510m featuring the likes of , Akimbo and Riverina Knight.

Best Bet: Who's Billy (Race 6)

Race six appears to be a shootout between two of the leading kennels in Rockhampton. 's Taming Strange made an eye-catching kennel debut last start; however, siding with the new dog on the scene for premiership-winning trainer in Who's Billy. Ken has had great success with Team Elson over the past six months when they've project dogs for him to run through the grades. Who's Billy brings the best CV of any dog to make the trip , running 22.80 over the 395m at and 30.24 over the 520m. These times would indicate he could run around 23.50, and he looks to get an ideal cart into this race with Taming Strange likely to be breaking this field up.

$3.90 with Pendlebury Bet

Next Best: Akimbo (Race 8)

Akimbo will appreciate a steep drop in grade here. The son of has been racing well over the 407m over the past month, winning in a slick 23.47 just three starts ago. He made the step back up to 510m last week and raced in a deep free-for-all contest featuring the likes of Skill Set, , and . Jumping poorly from box seven, he mustered great speed before being run off on the first corner and being taken out of play. There's not as much speed expected in this contest, and if he jumps cleaner, he can settle into a forward position. If the breaks open up down the back, expect class to come through on top.

Next Best: Early Arrival (Race 3)

The small field will play into the hands of Early Arrival, who will be out to make amends for favourite punters after finishing unplaced last start. The one-year-old Steven Boody-trained runner was excellent over track and trip just two starts ago, beating Kajal Rani late. Since then, he has suffered two large defeats, with one of those coming at Albion Park, which is forgivable as he went into the race without seeing the track. Box seven will work for him, with Sober Ziggy outside likely to run off and speed inside from Shona's Fury and Kajal Rani, who can cut at each other in front. Expect Early Arrival to sit third and run home best to score.
