Wentworth Park tips and best bets

A nice 10-race programme greets us at on Saturday night, including the final Easter Egg prelude and a nice 5th Grade final. With only a week to go to the Easter Egg heats, it will be interesting to see if any potential contenders emerge from the races.

Race 1: NSW GBOTA Welcome 5th Grade 520m

Coco Model probably leads these; she can carve out sections when on the bunny and looks the early leader and she prefers to be off the fence a little and has broken 30 secs here. Loui Wonton is back to his best and has placings galore recently loves box 1 and has never missed a place from in there and may just get the gun run along the fence early to stalk Coco Model. rewarded all those that stuck with him. He has been expensive for punters and tipsters alike but showed what he is capable of here last week. Smart Fernando has been in the circuit races recently so you know he has ability but will need luck working through the field. Fergie Pepper was very good leading all the way a couple of starts back but this is tougher and a place hope is best

Race 2: Ladbroke It! 5th Grade 520m

has been going super for Ricky Brewer lately and there is no reason she can't continue that run tonight. She usually begins well and has good pace and with the vacant box outside her looks like she will room down the centre of the track to burn early. Rocking Jewel can show pace and will need a touch of luck from out wide but is clearly the danger to the 4. Has copped a bit of interference in her last couple and am looking for improvement from her tonight. Key Bob has 3 placing from 4 goes here and is a hope of filling the placings again but if he begins like he truly can may be able to hold the fence to the first turn and that would change everything. Impress Raja and Electric Dreams have ability and speed but would need to improve substantially to win this.

Race 3: Friday Night Racing @wp 5th Grade 520m

Runway Messi did everything right last start pinging the lids from the inside and winning the race with ease. He can be an extremely risky proposition at box rise but when he gets it right like last start is a talented dog. Tomato Tears has been off the scene for 4 months since falling at Dapto in his first start for his new trainer. He has been aimed more at staying races recently but this looks nice while fresh. Lesley Hannaford is a quality conditioner of greyhounds and I expect him to be ready for this first up and if he shows his true talent may be looking at something over the carnival. Cawbourne Canelo has the pace and ability to hold the inside and lead through the first turn which would make him extremely hard to beat. Ziggy Stardust is strong but might be giving them too much start.

Race 4: Lgee Heats Next Week 5th Grade 520m

Zipping Rubble from the formidable Magri/Hallinan trainer/owner combination has not missed a place in its first 8 starts. Has been mixing his box manners, which is a concern here at Wenty Park as the inside can be for moderate beginners but looks like he has a motor and this may be a warmup for bigger things this month. Irrational can show pace and got forced wide off box 8 last time and really wanted to be near the fence. If he begins and heads to the fence could cause trouble for the red and set the race up for himself. Zipping Striker usually shows good pace and is starting to show that form again albeit in shorter races but has the pace to lead and of the rest Skedaddle Jamie has been thereabouts of late and can show pace but would need to lift on recent efforts.

Race 5: Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg Prelude 9 4th/5th Grade 520m

The last of our Easter Egg preludes sees some good dogs looking to secure their place in the heats next week. Redeem Our Cash was unlucky when beginning well and just not being able to get across the speedy Coco Model and copped a bad check. Nowhere near that pace tonight and is a very real chance of pinging and going and carving out time on her way. Yuko Girl is another very talented chaser who was given a crack at the Cup making the final, she is another that can easily lead this field and with a 29.8 P.B is very capable of winning this. Modern Talking who is trained by the Million Dollar Peter Lagogiane is another who has been freshened up for this time of year and has a flying P.B of 29.68 around here and that time would win this. Artic Kingdom did well for us last week but would luck in this field although not hopeless and Four Five just loves the inside and Wenty Park and will definitely get a good run and be finishing off super hard at the right time.

Race 6: Lgee 2018 Up Hill Jill 5th Grade 520m

Fascinate Mel has started to put things together here at headquarters with a first second and third from her last 3 and in a race that doesn't have any exceptional early zip she may find herself out in front early and hard to run down. March Legend gave nothing else a chance last week using box 1 beautifully and stopping the clock in a B.O.N 29.87 not as well drawn outside Mel but she may carry him right into this and he may be too strong for her late. is much better off drawn down here near the fence and has a sub 30 personal best from this box is a hope, while Amarillo is honest and Boy Serious is strong but both would need to improve to be a threat here

Race 7: Ladbrokes 1-3 Win Final 5th Grade 520m

The 1-3 Wins 5th Grade final sees Good Odds Emma draw the inside and she was a fraction tardy at box rise in the heats but mustered quickly and raced away for a good win. Hopefully she will begin a fraction better and will hold the inside and open up a gap going through the pen. Send It Tiger was good without breaking the clock in his first W.P run and only second career run. Is bound to be improved but might get a nice run through behind Emma. Our Amelia is the other obvious threat, she began well and carved out nice sections in her win in the heats and box 5 whilst tricky is a nice box at Wentworth Park for good beginners and must be given a huge chance and should be further improved from her first look here. Magic Hulk did everything right but would need to improve on the clock which he can. Cawbourne Magic is the strong dog but would need a touch of luck to get through from box 4 to run over the top of them late

Race 8: Lgee 2019 Zipping Bailey 5th Grade 520m

Fantastic Radley is just that fantastic. He has won over $75k in prizemoney and has competed in group 1 races. He has been over the staying journey mostly of late but has been freshened and again is one that might be using this for a tune up for better things to come but the small field and his class might just be enough to get him home. Black Eye Jack has been good on the country circuit and deserves in town although his record here is average. Mr Beethoven copped a check at a vital time last week and I am willing to give him another chance. Esther's Thrill can show pace and may be the early leader in this which gives her a chance at odds.

Race 9: Lgee 2021 Tommy Shelby 5th Grade 520m

In the race named after last year's Easter Egg winner Riley's Fusion finds a winnable race after chasing March Legend so hard and running 29.99 last week. Black Zambora showed he can run the 520 out here on Wednesday using box 1 well and leading all the way. He would need to improve on the clock you would think but he is getting stronger and that improvement may be coming. Tom's Express comes to town from the Riverina and has some slick times. Had one start here back in November and was turned inside when contesting the early lead. Has never won off the red so might be value. Dublin My Money looked to get a little lost through the pen when in front last week in his debut here and no reason he can't lead again and with that rack experience might be hard to catch.

Race 10: wentworthpark.com.au 4th/5th Grade 520m

Mickey Doo is another one of those extremely talented greyhounds looking for bigger fish over the carnival. Likes to be out wide and has a good record at the track and should get a beautiful cart across from the very speedy Sally's Reward and should be extremely hard to beat. Sally's Reward looks the leader but she will need to burn paw pads and keep going if she is going to beat Mickey but being in front at Wenty is worth its weight in dog food. Cop Magnet is better than he has shown since coming back from a break and should be kept safe. Royal Emgrand is another tuning up after a break in is very classy winning 11 here and Romantic Storm will run on along the fence but this is much harder.
