Wentworth Park betting preview & tips | Wednesday, October 19

Nine races greet us on a wonderful Wednesday night meeting at Wentworth Park. The track raced beautifully on Saturday night and full credit to the groundsmen following all the rain that Mother Nature has thrown at them recently. Some very nice races, including a mixed grade staying race, which is always good to see. As always we will do our best to find you a few nice selections and even a little bit of value.

Best Bet – Mia She's Fast (Race 2)

This impeccably bred youngster is in the hands of master mentor Frank Hurst and was flying in her first two starts. This daughter of Aston Dee Bee x Pixel Pak gave the well-fancied runner Zipping Annika a lesson in her first race at , and then improved to scorch around the Richmond 400m trip in 22.60 winning as she liked. Last week she stepped up to the Wentworth Park 520m for the first time when we made her a best bet and it was a hairy watch if you were on her, but she got home. The time wasn't flash, but it was her first 500m race and her first race at Wenty Park. On the back of those facts she should improve markedly and combined with her early pace she should blow her rivals away. Mia She's Fast will be vulnerable if she doesn't improve, but Frank Hurst will have her for this. So it's time to sing it loud and proud you Abba fans – Mama Mia there she goes again.

Danger: Fahey's Magic, who is another lightly raced girl for , has been zooming around Richmond before coming to town where she couldn't quite get the job done. Has the pace and can definitely lead, and is capable of causing Mia She's Fast some trouble. As usual, the winner takes it all.

Next Best Bet – Black Abbott (Race 7)

Hey Abbott!!! For those of you old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, but he was actually named after a marvel comics character. This well-bred ( x All Dolled Up) youngster has a bit of a wrap on him from the incredibly strong kennel, so that is saying something. Has won both of his starts at Goulburn and comes to town in this restricted wins race where he is perfectly graded. He will appreciate the fact that box three will be vacant and that will just give him a little bit of room to move early. As an added bonus, has a slow beginner drawn next to him in box one. The Lords do not miss a trick and you can bet this guy has had a look around here in a trial and will be cherry ripe to pluck this race at tomato sauce odds. Therefore, it won't be as much of a case of “Who's on first”? As much as it will be Black Abbott runs first.

Danger: DDajki whose recent form has been good and he did contest the rich maiden series here running second in his heat to make the final. The dog is no slouch, but would need to be at his best to knock off Black Abbott.

Best Value Bet – Whitely (Race 4)

We will tip this fellow as our value bet after a couple of scratchings, which is a concern, but we will roll the dice one last time. Whitely has had absolutely no luck in his three appearances at Wentworth Park having been wiped out at the first turn on each occasion. If Amanda Durham has him fit and ready, and he has taken no ill effects mentally from those runs, then he will be a major player in this race at good odds. His last couple of races were a touch easier than this and he was expected to be ultra-competitive in those races, so let's hope he can fire on Wednesday night. If you forget his three Wenty appearances, he was four wins and three seconds from eight starts. He is well drawn out in box eight with no other dog to cut down on him and the seven dog likely to go towards the fence. Whitely can find trouble, so cross your fingers and going into that first turn. His two wins at Bulli recently were top quality and he has so much more to show around here. Hopefully, tonight is the night he paints his masterpiece at decent odds.

Best Roughie – Norah Sunrise (Race 1)

Now maiden races are hard enough to predict at the best of times, but this little girl ran nicely in her debut at eight days ago. She progressed nicely in that run to finish third to suggest that the 520m won't be a problem for her at all. The extra fitness gained from that run combined with the move into the inside box could prove to be the key to this girl breaking her maiden. Expect her to be at very nice odds as the three, seven and eight should dominate betting. Put this girl in your black book as she will be winning soon, if not tonight.
