Wentworth Park Thursday tips & quaddie | August 8, 2024
Wentworth Park is set to host 11 races this Thursday night, with the first set to begin at 6:56pm local time. The highlights will undoubtedly be the finals of NSW qualifying for the National Sprint and Distance Championships, with the winners off to represent the state in Adelaide later this month. Australian Racing Greyhound will be trackside to help you find a winner or two.
Race 3: Angel Shirley (4)
Since returning from a three-month spell in late July, Angel Shirley has scorched the sand at Gosford with two wins from two in 29.17 and 29.03. She has only had five attempts at Wentworth Park for a win, a second and a third. While box four is an awkward draw, Angel Shirley has a slow beginner outside her, and that should give her enough room early to race to the front and make it three from three.

Race 5: Ritza Piper (2)
Since returning from a break following the State of Origin series, Ritza Piper has sizzled around Dapto and Nowra and just missed last start in Newcastle. She is a champion staying bitch that can lead or come from behind and has placed at Group 1 level. She has nine wins and eight placings from 19 starts at this track and trip, and there is no reason she won’t jump straight to the front and lead all of the 720m.

Race 9: Painted In Soot (1)
Painted In Soot has only two wins in her 31 starts, but it is a similar story for a lot of these greyhounds. Also, she is infinitely better drawn down near the fence. Other than Dominic’s Girl, there is no real pace in the race, and if Painted In Soot can push up along the fence early and hold a position, she can certainly test the pink’s strength late in the race.
