Sunset Frazier and Dave Hobby set to hold off all Victorian contenders in The Sandgroper
Can Sunset Frazier and David Hobby hold off the Victorian invasion in The 2024 Sandgroper?

Cannington's Dave Hobby is gearing up for a tough competition in the race at Cannington, WA.

The prestigious event, set for April 18, promises a $300,000 prize for the victor.

Last year, Hobby clinched victory with his star sprinter in the first edition of The Sandgroper, outshining competitors from across state borders.

This time, Hobby faces competition from seven Victorian greyhounds vying for the top spot.

The Victorian challengers include (), (), Trooper Tears (Total Container Solutions/TTeam Britton), (RAM Racing), Explicit (Punters HQ), (Mintbet), and Fernando Phil (Sportsbet).

Despite feeling let down by the lack of support, Hobby remains resolute to uphold Western Australia's pride and give fans something to cheer about.

His aspirations lie with Sunset Frazier, an offspring of Sunset Spitfire and Sunset Octavia.

Sunset Frazier has eight wins and four placings in 14 races, showing real talent in his short career.

His best time at Cannington's first section was a 5.31, proving his speed and agility.

Additionally, his back section time of 18.01 further showcases his skills.

Comparing Sunset Frazier to Crumble Monelli, Hobby pointed out that while Sunset Frazier is faster in the splits, they both have similar finishing speeds.

He also highlighted Sunset Frazier's improved record compared to his father's achievements.

Despite facing challenges with placing him inside box 4 only once, Hobby emphasised the importance of getting an inside position for Sunset Frazier in The Sandgroper.

Currently priced at $11 to win with the top online bookmakers, The Sandgroper Sunset Frazier faces competition from the sprinter Explicit at $3.00 from Jason Thompsons kennel, with Morton at $4.50 and Big Energy following at $5.

As we approach The Sandgroper event, all eyes will be on Dave Hobby and Sunset Frazier as they aim to over their Victorian competitors and secure another victory in this prestigious greyhound racing competition.
