Easter Egg Carnival Full Of Gold

The this week commenced formal promotion of the carnival.

The Golden Easter Egg itself is again sponsored by Macro Meats and boasts a staggering first prize of $250,000.

Conducted at over 520m, the event is open to the best 80 greyhounds as determined by the event's conditions of entry. Heats will be conducted on Saturday, April 9, Semi-Finals on Saturday, April 16 and the Final is set down for Saturday, April 23.

NSW GBOTA, Executive Officer, , anticipated high nomination demand and the conditions of entry were of paramount importance.

“The conditions are designed to ensure that Australia's best 80 line up on April 9,” said Scott.

“Trainers are aware of performance requirements that will ensure priority entry and these include special Preludes which will be held at Wentworth Park on Saturday March 12, 19 and 26.

“The Preludes will be open to greyhounds eligible for 4th and 5th grade events at Saturday night Wentworth Park meetings and the winners of these events will be granted priority entry if nominated for the Golden Easter Egg heats.

“Up to three Preludes will be staged on each Prelude date and I would encourage trainers to use these events as excellent lead ins to the Golden Easter Egg heats.”

The Golden Easter Egg will be complemented by the Globe Memorial , a $25,000 to the winner Group 2 event over 720m, and the Centrebet .

The Magic Maiden will be staged over three weeks and all meetings will have TAB Coverage.

The Magic Maiden's prizemoney has increased to $25,000 to the winner and is certain to be targeted by Australia's best boom pups. Heats are set down for Sunday, April 10, with Semi-Finals on Friday, April 15 and the Final on Saturday, April 23.

In addition, De Bortoli Wines will again sponsor , a $15,000 to the winner consolation of the Golden Easter Egg.

NSW GBOTA Chairman, , believes this year's carnival will move to a new dimension.

“Directors determined to re-vamp the carnival last year with excellent results.

“This year, following a review of the Australian Greyhound Racing Association's Group Race programming, the carnival is better positioned to attract the very best.

“We intend to intensify our marketing in conjunction with GRNSW with a view to increasing the event's profile and the support of customers.”

Mr. Rose was also very definite in his praise for the sponsors of the various parties.
