Gawler greyhound track adopts safe chase lure, racing suspended

Gawler Greyhound News

Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA) has announced the implementation of the Safe Chase lure system at the Gawler track, joining Angle Park and Murray Bridge Straight Track in adopting this advanced safety measure.

The upgrade is scheduled for the first two weeks of December and aims to improve safety, performance, and reliability for greyhounds and handlers alike.

In preparation for the installation, all racing and trialing activities at Gawler will be temporarily suspended to ensure a smooth transition.

Recent trials have demonstrated the effectiveness of the Safe Chase lure system in reducing injury risks, thanks to its breakaway mechanism that allows the lure to detach if snagged, preventing accidents.

This latest upgrade underscores GRSA’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and competitiveness of greyhound racing across South Australia.
