Little Nellie salutes in her 110th career start at Healesville


Little Nellie lined up in her 110th career start at on and saluted with another win.

The Sharyn Combridge-trained chaser started as race favourite, paying $2.40 with top online greyhound bookmakers.

Out of box eight in the 350m contest, she used the wide alley to jump cleanly.

She charged across to the rail as the Peter Matinovic-trained Ocean Legend ($4.20) challenged outside of her.

Little Nellie ran on to win by a length in front of Ocean Legend ($4.20) and Blackzin Prince ($12), in a time of 19.57.

The victory came off the back of two consecutive fifth placings at the same track and trip.

Prior to those finishes she had two all the way wins over the Healesville 350m journey, beating home Sonic Cyclone on both occasions.

Little Nellie ran her debut at on September 23 three years ago with a sixth placing.

She backed up two months later, on November 1, over the same 311m Cranbourne journey as her debut, breaking her maiden.

Building a strong form line over shorter distances, Little Nellie has 13 wins from her 23 over 400m or shorter.

The Kinda Cruel Red x Middle Trucker bitch has 23 wins and 20 placings from her 110 starts and has banked over $40,000 in prize money.
