Bessy Boo Salutes In Classic Peter Mosman Victory
Bessy Boo ($17.00) has upset a red-hot field in the running of the Group One Peter Mosman Final at Wentworth Park, storming home from box one to claim the $75,000 first prize for trainer Christine Proctor and owner Ashley Wilson.
After finishing fifth in the heats and second last week in his semi-final, the son of Bekim Bale and My Black Bess wasn't given much hope in tonight's final, however he had a very strong motor to complement a perfect box one draw.
Jumping well from the inside alley, Bessy Boo stuck to the rails and found himself in second position heading into the back straight, behind early leader Push It who exploded away from box two. The 30kg greyhound grabbed his rival halfway up the straight to score by three quarters of a length at the finish in a fast time of 29.71. All Strung Out ran another brilliant race from box eight and claimed second position, with early leader Push It finishing in third.
Bessy Boo recorded his eleventh career victory tonight from thirty-four starts and has now cracked the $100,000 prize money barrier, with a total of $114,565.
