Tilly’s Boy wins Grp3 New Sensation on Easter Egg night

Tilly’s Boy last night made amends for the disappointment of a narrow 2015 Group 3 Dapto Maiden loss, by taking out the Group 3 New Sensation at Wentworth Park for trainer Dean Swain and owner Scott Hanson.

The son of Lochinvar Marlow and Cosmic Essence, in August last year, looked all set to record the first group race win of his career at just his fifth start when he lead clearly to the home corner around the tight Dapto circuit, only to be collared by race favourite Fantastic Dotty in the shadows of the post when being proclaimed the winner.

Last night’s New Sensation win was the first group race final since the narrow Dapto loss despite Tilly’s Boy’s record reading 21 starts for 10 wins and six placings, and took his career earnings to $57,090 with the $25,000 first place prize.

Beginning quickly at box rise Tilly’s Boy (box seven) had to hold off a determined Megalodon (box eight) for the entire journey, but stole a breeak down the back straight that proved unassailable to his pursuers.
