Postman Pat’s achilles injury thwarts Australian Cup hopes

Postman Pat, the highly regarded greyhound and a major contender from Australia, has unfortunately suffered an Achilles tendon tear.

This unfortunate injury has dashed his hopes of participating in the Australian Cup Carnival. Trainer described the injury as “minor.”.

It will still keep Postman Pat out of the prestigious racing event.

Thompson expressed disappointment, highlighting that a series of injuries have hindered Postman Pat's involvement in races. “We had a run with him since he arrived in Australia, but now a few minor injuries have prevented him from participating in some races,” Thompson shared.

Postman Pat is a greyhound with a track record of 24 wins out of 37 starts.

Since coming to Australia, he has achieved 14 victories.

He showcased his capabilities by finishing second to Schillaci in at Sandown Park with an impressive time of 29.13 seconds.

However, this Achilles injury sustained during a slip on the track has temporarily halted his racing aspirations. Thompson assured that surgery is not necessary for this injury; it just requires some time for recovery and rest.

“We'll just need to give him a couple of weeks; hopefully he'll be back racing in four to five weeks.”Thompson is still positive about Postman Pats recovery and potential return for the Easter Egg Heats on March 30.

Despite the challenges, this greyhound has shown talent by finishing as a runner-up in The Phoenix, the G1 , and securing a third-place position in the Chase.

Although Postman Pat's absence during the Australian Cup Carnival starting on February 10 will be felt strongly, Thompson has rising stars in his arsenal.

Tim Zoo, who won impressively at near-record speed in the G2 Warragul Cup Final, and Explicit, who showcased potential with a victory in .

Thompson plans to enter Tim Zoo in the G1 Temlee on February 10th as he acknowledges the progress of this greyhound.

He also praised Explicit's debut after an 11-week break.

Despite the Postman Pats setback, Thompson remains confident in his team's capabilities, with two runners, Unleash Collinda and , participating in night's G2 heats.
