Millard Just Fined Over Caffeine Positive In Queensland

have just release details of a Stewards Inquiry in to a to caffeine in a Capalaba greyhound.

Remarkably the greyhound trainer involved has escaped with only a fine for the offence, and a small one at that. The only possible explanation for such a light sentence could be the timing of the offence.

The trained greyhound returned a positive swab after running third in a Capalaba 5th grade on 11th April 2009. Of course April 11th was better known this year as Easter Saturday.

Greyhounds Queensland Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 29th May 2009 in relation to the urine sample taken from the greyhound Glenfarclas which subsequently returned positive to the drug and its metabolites, , and .

Stewards directed Trainer Mr. B. Millard of Morayfield to appear.

Evidence was taken from Mr. Millard along with a number of written submission.

Stewards charged the Trainer under R 83 (2) (a) (d) which states;

  • (2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound
  • (a) nominated to compete in an Event
  • (d) shall present the greyhound free of any drug

Millard pleaded guilty.

Millard was fined just $500 for the offence.
