Red Rolex takes out Maitland Future Stars Maiden Final
The time-honoured Ladbrokes Maitland Future Stars has produced some outstanding chasers in recent years, including Million Dollar Chase winner Good Odds Harada and Zipping Kyrgios, winner of the G2 Gosford Cup, G2 Black Top and Country Classic Final. Stepping from box five, the son of Barcia Bale and Fusion Girl owned by Maitland-local Ellie Allomes began mid-field and strode to the lead at the first turn, gapping his rivals by 5.25 lengths in a sizzling 22.21 performance over the 400m. Winning connections, including trainer and breeder Daniel Flanagan collected $15,000 for their efforts, with a bright future seemingly ahead for the 31kg black pocket-rocket. His career record now boasts two starts from two wins. Fusion Girl's owner Allomes, along with breeder Flanagan currently have an 8-month litter on the ground by gun sire Feral Franky.
Nangar Pearl for Dennis Barnes was gallant in defeat finishing second, with inside runner War Hawk for Penny Hutchinson in third.
