Rewind Back To His Best

Top chaser Rewind (Collide – Ricky's Angel) was back to his best at the Devonport Raceway on Tuesday afternoon when he took out the Dowling McCarthy Tyres Invitation (452 metres) in brilliant fashion.

The Maurie Strickland owned and prepared chaser had succumbed to Galtee Again ( – Who's Girl) and I'm A Fencer ( – Wooreddy) at his previous two runs, but turned the tables on this occasion to score in the time of 25.75 as a well supported $2.00 favourite.

In winning the event, Rewind showed that he is on song as far as the State Championship is concerned and no doubt he will be a major contender for that series.

He has now prevailed in 36 of his 60 lifetime outings and can boast a purse of slightly in excess of $159,000.

The David Crosswell prepared I'm A Fencer pounced on the early lead on Tuesday afternoon, but then faltered on the home turn, before kicking back in the lane to be beaten just over a length into third placing.

The Kingsley Jarman owned chaser had won his previous start when resuming racing following a five month spell due to injury.

“We were told he wouldn't race again, so it is great to have him back racing and performing well,” Jarman explained on that occasion.

I'm A Fencer campaigned in Victoria late last year and is the winner of 24 of 54 lifetime outings and stakes of almost $70,000.

Meanwhile former harness racing enthusiast was seen in the winners circle in successive races on Monday night at the Tote Racing Centre as the trainer of firstly Lika Whisper ( Solve The Puzzle – Silver Legs) and then Gatty Com (Vapour Whirl – Kirabilli Jessie).

Lika Whisper Took out the City Council Stakes (515 metres) to give him his 14th victory since winning on debut in Tasmania in September last year.

Gatty Com was successful in the Mowbray Newsagency Grade 4 (515 metres) event and that chaser has won four of eight Tasmanian starts since being transferred to the Apple Isle in April.

Pursell has enjoyed remarkable success since switching codes and appears to have established a steady stream of interstate greyhounds capable of winning under our conditions.

All eyes will be on Park tonight (Thursday) when the HGRC will play host to the rich Betfair Final.

In what would be an unprecedented happening, prolific owners Karleen Cuthbertson and Sally – Anne Wilson will be represented by six of the eight runners in the prestigious event.

Three runners each will be provided by litters by leading stud-dogs Where's Pedro and .

Millie Minor, Pak And Wrap and Molly's Legacy are by Where's Pedro from Smart And Sassy and No Emotion, Captain Cosmic and Director are by Cosmic Rumble from Icy Popsicle.

Mangalore mentor Mick Stringer prepares all but Pak And Wrap, which is in the care of Penguin trainer Butch Deverell.

Millie Minor and the prepared Zorro's Legacy (Bombastic Shiraz – ) are sharing favouritism in early markets on the event.
