Rocklea Earle remains undefeated with Dave Brett Memorial win

Rocklea Earle
overcame stiff competition to win the Final at on Thursday night.

Rocklea Earle took out the $24,000 Dave Brett Memorial Final at Albion Park on Thursday night to remain undefeated.

Prepared by Queensland master trainer , lined up in the 520m novice-and-maiden final as a +500 prospect with top online greyhound bookmakers.

Race favourite Speed Zone (+190) got out to lead early, with Rocklea Earle in second place as they turned the first corner.

As the field turned the final bend into the home straight, Zammit's dog stormed home over the top of the leader to win in the shadows of the post.

Rocklea Earle edged out the -trained Speed Zone by a half-length in 30.20, with Distant Flash (+900) finishing only a quarter-length further back in third.

Last time out, on September 27, Rocklea Earle stepped out in his first try at the 520m, beating home Denver Joy by three-and-a-half lengths to win his heat of the Dave Brett Memorial.

The x Paint Face dog has won all four career starts, with the first two coming over the 395m at Albion Park before stepping up to longer trip last week.

The Dave Brett Memorial Final is held annually to honour the late, great greyhound trainer for which it is named.

Formerly restricted to maiden class, this year it was opened to novice runners as well.
