Rose Of Galo Takes Out Group Two Black Top Final
Queensland owner-trainer Albert Kennewell will head back to the Sunshine State with the Group Two Black Top trophy, after his charge Rose Of Galo blitzed a star-studded field last night at The Gardens.
The daughter of El Galo and Noir Rose was impressive in her heat win last week from box seven, clocking a flying 29.47 over the 515m distance.
Exiting from box eight last night, Rose Of Galo was well-supported by punters, starting at $4.20, with Push It from box one made the $2.90 favourite after Zipping Willow was scratched yesterday morning.
Rose of Galo began brilliantly from out wide, clocking a sizzling 4.87 to the first mark and sprinted away down the back over Alan’s Kidz and Push It, who sat in third position. Heading towards the home turn, Push It began to take ground off the leader, however Rose Of Galo was too strong at the finish, scoring by three lengths in a flying time of 29.52. Push It was very gallant in defeat for trainer Dean Swain and Alan’s Kidz finished third.
Rose of Galo now has twenty one career wins next to her name from fifty-eight starts and last night’s $40,000 cheque takes her prizemoney total to an impressive $91,675.
