The Phoenix box draw sets stage for thrilling $1.65m slot race
The upcoming The Phoenix (525m), at The Meadows this Saturday night is shaping up to be an interesting race with a prize pool of $1.65 million.
The box draw for the race has been determined.
Anthony Azzopardi, was gifted the first option to draw a box and wasted no time in securing the coveted rails alley for his rising star Pass The Buck in the $1 million-to-the-winner race.
Following suit Hector Fawley;s connection chose box two, while Alpha Zulu’s connections opted for box three.
Postman Pat will start from box four for the Greyhounds HQ slot holders.
Trainer Jihad Talgi chose box five for Schillaci.
Mick Zammit’s Queensland star Jay Is Jay will start from box eight, the same draw that brought them place in last month’s Group 1 Topgun.
Wow Shes Fast, who is aiming to achieve a third consecutive win in The Phoenix faces a challenging task as she drew box six, although it is the same draw she triumphed from in last years race, against Amron Boy.
Big Energy will start from box seven.
Online greyhound bookmakers where quick to post Pass The Buck and Alpha Zulu as +300 equal favourites for the race after the box draw.
Hector Fawley and Postman Pat were both priced next in greyhound betting at +350 and +400 respectively.
