The Two “R’s” Steal The Tote Racing Centre Show

The two “R's”, Radley Bale and Rewind, dominated proceedings at the Tote Racing Centre on Monday night and are now being set for bigger and better things.

The Victorian champ Radley Bale ran his rivals ragged in the $57,000 Tasracing Group 2 Cup and will now contest the Group 1 Temlee to be conducted at on Saturday night and then the Australian Cup heats.

The Tassie champ Rewind, who won the Consolation, may be given a chance to take on the best in the land in the Golden Easter Egg to be conducted at .

The Graeme Bate prepared Radley Bale increased his lifetime earnings to almost $500,000 by winning the Launceston Cup as a heavily supported $1.70 commodity.

The son of Cool defeated Lika Whisper and Classic Camdale in the time of 29.60 with splits of 4.98 and 17.49.

The Paul Wheeler owned chaser has raced on 97 occasions, winning 36 races and running 26 placings in what has proven to be a marvellous racing career.

Whether Radley Bale attempts to win a second Golden Easter Egg is in the lap of the gods.

“It depends on how the dog is going whether he has a shot at winning another Golden Easter Egg,” handler explained.

“It would be nice to think he could win it again, but he would have to be as keen as he is at the moment for Graeme and Paul to consider going to Sydney again.”

Recently named Tasmanian Greyhound of the Year Rewind, was back to his brilliant best in winning the Launceston Cup Consolation.

The Morrie Strickland owned and prepared son of Collide, defeated November Digger and Wicked Magic in the time of 29.69, returning a dividend of $1.60.

The chaser has now won 30 of 47 lifetime outings while accumulating a purse of in excess of $141,000.

Rewind proved that he can compete at elite level by running a gallant second to the Victorian chaser Dyna Tyron in the Group 1 Hobart Thousand Final conducted at Tattersalls Park in December.

“There's not much for him here, but I think he deserves a shot at the big races interstate and the Golden Easter Egg is on the ,” Strickland explained this week.

The veteran Bracknell mentor was pleasantly surprised that Rewind was named Tasmanian Greyhound of the Year at a well attended function in Launceston last Saturday night.

Other award winners were:

Leading Trainer – (85 wins), Leading Owner – (46 wins), Most Consistent Greyhound – ( 20 wins and 3 placings), Leading Brood Bitch – Ricky's Angel ( progeny won 57 races), Leading Sire – Where's Pedro ( progeny won 179 races).
