Tracey Hurst And Dancing Surf’s First Group 1 Success

trained her first 1 winner when Dancing Surf won this $50,000 feature at over 520 metres last Saturday.

Tracey had two runners in the final – her other runner went out 2/1 favourite finishing fourth from box 5 after a slow start. The winner was on the fourth line of betting at 5/1.

Keith for owner trainer ran second at 9/2 – Paul told us that this was the fourth Group race final he has contested – all coming this year and it was his first race.

owns and trains the third placegetter Puddy Muddles and this was the first Group race he has contested. Puddy Muddles started second favourite at 4/1.

The inside boxes 1, 2 and 3 filled the placings in an even final and after the race at the presentation commented that a good box draw in such races is everything… and Dancing Surf took full advantage with a faultless start and an all the way win.

It was a final marked by a number of new trainers to Group finals at headquarters and all were very excited and proud to be participating. See pictured below (Freaky Lee (6)) looking very smart in the parade, outfitted as usual for our Group races at Wenty by Tedesco Menswear, Castle Hill – thanks to Tedesco for their continued support.

Part owner Allan Mottershead took a table for the first floor dinner to celebrate just being in the race and had $50,000 reasons to celebrate with his co owner Tony McCulloch after the win. Congratulations Allan and Tony on a well deserved victory.

The winner's time was 30.25 and the margins were ¾ x 1 ½ lengths.
