Usain I’m Nutty scores an insanely good win in 2015 Launching Pad
THE Andrea Dailly-trained Usain I’m Nutty scored a tenacious victory in Thursday’s Group 2 Launching Pad final at Sandown Park, defeating a quality field to take home the $140,000-to-the-winner prize.
Stepping well from box four, the black dog was able to avoid early bother and settle in second position behind Rob Britton’s Targaryen (box three) around the first turn. The son of Dyna Tron and Dyna Gillian balanced up down the back and started taking ground off the lamplighter before levelling up turning for home and shooting clear to score by three lengths in a quick 29.42.
It wasn’t all good news for Dailly, with kennelmate and favourite Lektra Concord taking a tumble. Luckily there was no serious damage done, with a vet examination revealing grazes to the left foreleg and hind leg. No stand down period was imposed.
Usain I’m Nutty has now won eight races from 24 career starts with nine minor placings. It could be the start of a massive weekend for Dailly who has three greyhounds engaged in Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park. The leading conditioner will put the polish on Dyna Double One (box four), Dyna Nice (box five) and Fernando Bale (box eight).
Fernando Bale is the current $2.40 favourite with William Hill to take out NSW’s richest greyhound race, worth quarter-of-a-million dollars, coming into the race as the winner of nine of his past 10 starts including the Group 1 National Derby in February.
