The Joy Wright trained chaser is engaged in the third of four heats on the twelve race program.
Comanchee Jack has been knocking on the door of late, and is due for a change of luck following close up placing’s at his last two starts at Ballarat over the race distance.
He is by prolific sire Carlisle Jack, out of the dam Belle Etoile, and has been in Wright’s kennel since he was three months old.
Wright, who has been training greyhounds for the past 20 years from their property in Bald Hills, rates Comanchee Jack as “the most beautiful, placid dog they have ever had in their kennel.”
But on the track he has been flying out of the boxes, and his outside Box 8 draw will not affect his chances.
“He’s led at his last two race starts, but been run down in the shadows of the post.” Wright said.
“Hopefully he can lead again and run out a strong 450 metres to make it through to the final.”
Comanchee Jack presents good each way value for punters as he is rated a 13/1 chance in pre post markets.
Captain Hastings for Tarneit trainer John Galea has been installed as the pre post favorite for the race.
The classy chaser has been a model of consistency, and has not been out of the money in his past seven race starts.
Anakie chaser Wes Mantooth has also been in good form of late, and will appreciate a drop in class back from his last start third at Sandown.
The first and second placed greyhounds in the heats will advance to the 450 metre final to be held next Wednesday night.
