We’re On One wins first heat of Queensland Straight Track Championship at Capalaba

We're On One took out the first of two heats of the Queensland Straight Track Championship on Sunday down the Capalaba 366m straight.

The Chris Brydon-trained dog was sent out at $2.60 odds in the heat with greyhound bookmakers, with the Tom Tzovellis-trained as race favourite ($).

At box rise, Valhalla jumped well to lead with We're On One coming through to challenge and .

In the shadows of the post Valhalla fought back to try and pip the leader on the line but it was too late taking second.

We're On One won by the tightest of margins (0.06 length) in front of Valhalla and Bye Bye Raider ($8), in a time of 19.63.

We're On One has not missed out on placings in his entire career so far as he made it two wins on the trot in Sunday's heat.

The Dyna Double One x Magic Mctiger chaser has eight wins and five placings from 13 starts with $18,860 banked for connections.

In the other heat, Beck And Call returned after his last start in March to thump Kid on the line and take the win.

The Christine Bourke-trained chaser was sent out at $5.50 odds with online greyhound bookmakers/a>, after a last start second place on March 12.

As boxes rose, the ‘king of the Capalaba straight' in Coonamble Kid ($2.80) hit the lead from the wide alley running on as he is known to do.

He looked to dictate terms before Beck And Call made the late dive to win by 0.13 of a length.

Coonamble Kid would finish second with race favourite ($1.70) in third.

The race was run and won in a time of 19.60.

The Bekim Bale x High Class Belle dog has 12 wins and seven placings from 23 career starts and has bagged $45,020 in prize money.

The top four from each heat will now go through to the Queensland Straight Track Final next Sunday 13 to decide the Queensland representative to contest the national Final at Healesville on August 26.
