Zipping Midge claims 2015 National Futurity final

THE -trained Zipping Midge scored an ultra-impressive victory in Saturday night's 1 final, saluting at double-figure odds for her Hunter Valley mentor.

Beginning swiftly from box six, the daughter of and Zipping Jewel crossed to the rails around the first turn, skipping clear through the catching pen.

Once given some clear galloping room out in front, the black bitch strode out beautifully down the back and maintained her lead well into the home straight, crossing the line two-and-three-quarter lengths in front of Spring Leaf (box one) in a quick 29.80.

Spring Leaf, trained by , was the favourite going into the $75,000-to-the-winner feature but was outpaced in the early part of the race. She still put in a gallant effort to finish second, taking ground off the winner in the closing stages.

Dailly also filled third position with Dyna Nico (box three) hanging on nicely for some minor prizemoney with the leading mentor also collecting fourth and seventh with Kerrigan Bale (box four) and Polly Bale (box two) respectively.

Despite not winning the Futurity final, it was still a lucrative night for Team Dailly. Earlier in the evening, Fernando Bale won the action-packed Derby final, ensuring his kennel still have plenty to celebrate during the long drive back to Melbourne.

Zipping Midge has now won five races from just nine career outings and looks to be an extremely exciting young prospect for Mackay and her owners, Marty and Fiona Hallinan.
