Smooth Plane confirmed for The Phoenix at The Meadows 2024
Australian Bloodstock has officially selected the in-form Smooth Plane as their runner for The Phoenix, the prestigious 525-metre greyhound race at The Meadows on December 21, 2024.
Luke Murrell, director of Australian Bloodstock, expressed enthusiasm about the decision, marking their debut as a slot holder in the $1 million-to-the-winner race.
Murrell confirmed it is their first venture as a slot holder and announced Smooth Plane, selected on Glenn Rounds’ recommendation, as their runner for The Phoenix, with the top greyhound bookmakers offering $12.00 for Smooth Plane to win.
Smooth Plane, comes into the event on the back of an impressive win in the Listed Cup Night Sprint at Sandown. Clocking 29.24 seconds, his time outshone the 29.29-second run of Explicit, the winner of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup, reinforcing his credentials as a top contender.
