Wild Cash outshines rivals in Listed Cup Night Stayers victory

Wild Cash displayed extraordinary staying power to claim victory in the Listed Cup Night Stayers (715m) at Sandown Park on Saturday night.

With a well-timed run in the closing stages, the Kim Erenshaw-trained chaser edged out the competition to secure the $15,000 top prize in a time of 41.96 seconds at $7.50 odds with the top greyhound bookmakers.

The race began with Lethal Sniper bursting from the inside to set a blistering early pace, leading by four lengths as the field settled.

Wild Cash positioned himself perfectly in second, tracking the leader while Shake And Bake attempted to make ground along the inside.

Despite Shake And Bake’s repeated attempts to break through, Wild Cash held firm and launched his final surge down the stretch.

In a thrilling finish, Wild Cash edged past Lethal Sniper to take the win by half a length, with Shake And Bake settling for third.

For trainer Kim Erenshaw, the victory was a testament to Wild Cash’s resilience and preparation.

Speaking post-race, Terry Erenshaw shared his thoughts on the dog’s performance and preparation.

“Yeah, he went super,” Erenshaw said.

“He just that one short of a run last week, which we thought would pay off this week; we are really happy with him.”

“He just did what he does, week in and week out.”

Wild Cash, a son of My Redeemer and Flying Smooth, has shown consistent improvement throughout his career, with this victory marking his fifth win over the 700-metre distance.

The win adds to Wild Cash’s career earnings, which now sits at $97,525, and solidifies his reputation as a reliable competitor over staying distances.
