Jarrah’s Rocket Lives Up To His Name
The Bradley Ellis-owned and Marlene Ellis-trained sprinter qualified for the race with a 27.88 seconds 480-metre heat win at Grafton on June 6 and backed up to win again there in a slick 27.48s on June 13.
Jarrah's Rocket ($3.60) began well from box one while Supreme Allegro the $1.90 favourite dwelt slightly at the start from box five. He led to the first turn with Supreme Allegro in hot pursuit, and the favourite backers were on good terms with themselves at this point.
But Jarrah's Rocket found plenty from then on and had one length to spare at the finish over Supreme Allegro who found the winner too good on the night.
The time was 30.88 seconds for the 520 metre trip.
Tommy Cash set the time standard for the night over the 520 metres trip when he scored a great win in the Beaurepaires Casino Stake.
Tommy Cash, who was drawn in box eight, exploded from the boxes to set up an eye catching 30.26s win for Elva and Reg Gardoll and has now won three of his last four starts in great style.
