Group 2 Golden Ticket Heat 1 Best Bet – Smooth Plane (Race 4)
Smooth Plane (7) leads the field in this competitive event, offering a wealth of experience and class. With 18 wins and 12 minors from 45 starts over this trip, he was last seen finishing a strong second in The Phoenix, clocking 29.88 and beaten just 2.5 lengths. He’s proven at this level and looks poised to break through with the right run. La Sagrada (1) is a major threat, having won both 520m starts here, including the Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity on January 2 with a best-of-the-night performance. Well-drawn and full of confidence, she’ll be hard to hold out. Comedy Act (5) didn’t have the clearest run last start but still managed a solid placing in a strong field and has four wins from this box, keeping him firmly in the mix. Big Boy Bentley (3) is a capable runner who can’t be overlooked despite a last-start miss over 600m. Smooth Plane’s proven credentials and recent Group 1 placing make him the standout.

Group 2 Golden Ticket Heat 2 Best Bet – Blue Kermaro (Race 5)
Blue Kermaro (5) gets the nod in this exciting contest, bringing top-class credentials after a brilliant Group 1 Paul Wheeler victory at Wentworth Park, where he stopped the clock in a dazzling 29.40. His early speed and proven ability make him a formidable opponent on his debut over this track and trip. Warm Cockles (1) is another standout, returning to Queensland after a sharp 29.78 win at The Meadows. Though he takes a stride to get going, his strength late makes him a major threat from the inside draw. Affluent (3) showed grit last start, finishing a close second here in 30.34, and his early pace from an inside box keeps him firmly in contention. Aidan’s Queen (7), a local with a liking for this trip, is capable of leading and could surprise at each-way odds. Blue Kermaro’s class and recent Group 1 success position him as the one to beat.

Group 2 Golden Ticket Heat 3 Best Value – Extreme Tenison (Race 6)
Extreme Tension (7) looks to upset in this competitive four-dog heat, bringing strong form after a dominant win at this track on January 2, where he led throughout to score. Chasing a hat-trick of victories, he’s in his best form and looks well-placed to cause an upset at $5.50 odds at PlayUp. Wreck James (1) is the key contender, with a dazzling 29.70 win here two starts back. Despite an unplaced effort last time in the Queensland Derby, he’s drawn to lift and should be prominent early. More Than Money (3) has shown the ability to lead and was a winner two runs back, making him a genuine threat if he avoids trouble. Danger Zone (9) is capable of setting the early tempo and offers value at each-way odds, despite his tendency to fade late against stronger fields.

Group 2 Golden Ticket Heat 4 Best Bet – Good Odds Cobber (Race 7)
Good Odds Cobber (7) stands out as the top pick, bringing a solid record over this track and trip, having never missed the placings in six starts, including two wins. A recent victory at Gosford in a sharp 29.34 showcased his early speed and strength, and as a proven Group 1 performer who placed third in the 2024 Brisbane Cup, he looks poised to deliver another big run. Lakeview Emily (5), a Victorian star back in Queensland, comes off sizzling Melbourne form and has the speed to overcome the tricky draw. Runner-up in the 2024 Brisbane Cup, she’s a major threat if she leads. Mossy Boots (1) is a consistent performer with four consecutive minor placings, though she’s likely to get crossed early, leaving her reliant on a strong finish. Super Scrub (3) can bounce back from his last unplaced effort and add value to the mix. With his track record and recent form, Good Odds Cobber is the one to beat.
